Nursing Science: Connecting the Dots
Since research can be seen as global enterprise needing international collaboration, it is important to network and build strategic partnerships. Although the amount of research studies in nursing is growing, there remain several obstacles in Europe to overcome which preclude optimal collaboration or implementation of research findings into practice. Each country within Europe has different health care systems, medical and nursing education programs and professional roles, remits and responsibilities. This poses a major challenge to optimal collaboration and implementation of research findings. In this presentation I will give some do’s and don’ts for collaboration in nursing science, in other words how to connect the dots or fill the scatter plot.
Saturday June 23rd: Professor Nico De Witte, professor in Educational Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, and lecturer at University College Ghent, Ghent, Belgium
Nursing in the near future: Changes and challenges
Demographic changes yield profound evolutions in our society. Where previously the emphasis was on intramural / residential care, home and informal care are now the focus of most Western policies. As a consequence, nurses in the near future will have to play a completely different role. Based on research within community dwelling older people, this lecture will take a closer look at this enormous challenge.
