Arianne Elissen (1984) graduated with a Master’s degree in Health Policy, Economics and Management from Maastricht University. She has a PhD from Maastricht University, where she wrote her dissertation on chronic care management in Europe at the CAPHRI School of Public Health and Primary Care. Her PhD study was part of a large-scale, international project concerning the methods for evaluation of real-world impact of complex chronic disease management programmes, which was funded by the European Commission (7th Framework Programme).
Arianne worked as a postdoctoral research in the Department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University (2013-2014) on projects for, amongst others, the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports (VWS) and Novo Nordisk Netherlands. Since 2014, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Research, with educational activities in several courses in the bachelor and master programmes Health. She is vice-coordinator of the master programme Healthcare Policy, Innovation and Management. Her research interests are mainly related to population health management, chronic care management (particularly for diabetes), and health policy and governance. She is a senior staff member in the Living Lab on Sustainable Care at Maastricht University, leading and/or participating in research projects for partners such as the Dutch Healthcare Authority, MeanderGroep Zuid-Limburg, Zilveren Kruis, AstraZeneca, and Huisartsenzorg Drenthe.
Arianne is member of the editorial board of the International Journal for Care Coordination and serves as Academic Editor for Plos One.
